Jack Hanks founded MMEX’s predecessor, Maple Resources Corp in 1989 to invest in O&G related assets in the US. Through 1992, Maple completed several acquisitions, including transactions relating to O&G production interests, gas gathering, processing and transmission systems, and ten gas processing plants with capacity of approximately 300 MMcfd, 14,000 bpd of liquids as well as approximately 1,287 km of natural gas gathering and transmission infrastructure. In 1992, Jack sold substantially all of its existing US-based assets and began to pursue energy projects on an international basis, including O&G opportunities and electric power projects in Peru. The Company, Maple Peru initiated these efforts with the launching of several energy projects in Peru's central jungle, after winning an international tender held by the Peruvian Gov’t in March 1994. In 1993, As Chairman and CEO of Maple, Jack led senior management in building the $273 million Aguaytía Project, an integrated natural gas and electric power generation and transmission project with 290 km of hydrocarbon pipelines, a gas processing plant, a fractionation facility, a power plant and the related 392 km of electricity transmission lines. Maple Peru also developed the US$ 290 Million sugar cane to ethanol project on the Northern Coast of Peru. Maple Energy plc was listed on the London AIM during Jack’s tenure as Chairman of Maple Energy. Maple Resources sold its interests in Peru and focused on developing the MMEX West Texas clean energy projects in the Permian Basin, Pecos County, TX starting in 2017. From 2017 to present, MMEX is developing a clean fuels refinery with carbon capture, a natural gas to hydrogen project with carbon capture and a hydrogen from electrolysis project- all solar or renewable powered.
